[R-(R*,R*)]-5-[1-Hydroxy-2-[(1-methyl-3-phenylpropyl)(phenylmethyl)amino]ethyl]-2-(phenylmethoxy)benzamide is an intermediate of (R,R)-Labetalol, a specific competitive antagonist at both α-and β-adrenergic receptor sites. (R,R)-Labetalol is used as an antihypertensive.
